We are now accepting submissions for all categories.
ION was created to discover and nurture brilliance and innovation in the worlds of film, animation and music from all over the world.
You are welcome to submit your film to multiple categories and are allowed to submit several films to a single category. However, it must be noted that for every submission, you must PAY A SEPARATE ENTRY FEE.
WITHOUT THE PROPER PAPER WORK AS WELL AS ENTRANCE FEE YOUR PROJECT CANNOT BE CONSIDERED FOR COMPETITION.
Categories
There will be 7 separately juried competitions in this year ION festival, open to entries from anywhere in the world.
The juried competitions are as follows. Click on each category to view descriptions:
- Features (Films in this category must be at least 50 mintues in length)
Comedy, drama, docu-drama, horror, film noir, suspense, any features that concentrate on story lines and character development fit here.
- Documentary (Films in this category must be at least 50 mintues in length)
Non-fiction or factually based films like travelogues, educational, newsreel, historical and the “reality” genre..
- Animation (All lengths are accepted)
Animation category entries include features and shorts and can include claymation, stop motion, computer, anime, Flash and other emerging applications.
- Short (Films in this category must be less than 50 minutes in length)
Comedy, drama, docu-drama, horror, film noir, suspense, any shorts that concentrate on story lines and character development fit here.
- Short Documentary (Films in this category must be less than 50 minutes in length)
Non-fiction or factually based films like travelogues, educational, newsreel, historical and the “reality” genre.
- Music Videos
Rock, new wave, goth, punk, ska, classical, jazz, folk, blues, country, reggae, dance hall, world, traditional, indigenous, we’re as eclectic as the music you send us.
- Movie Trailers
Previews of comedy, drama, docu-drama, horror, film noir and suspense.
Selections:
ION appoints independent selection committees to view all submissions for both pre-selection and final selection. The selection committee's comprise of industry professionals such as directors, producers, agents, film and ad executives and animators.
Eligibility and Rules:
1. Submission copies must be in DVD form (Region 1 ONLY), miniDV (NTSC ONLY) or VHS (NTSC ONLY).
2. Screening copies will only be accepted 16mm, 35mm, BetaSP, DVD (Region 1 ONLY) and miniDV (NTSC ONLY).
3. All feature films must be over 50 minutes.
4. Foreign language films must have English voiceovers or English subtitles.
5. Entry forms without payment will not be accepted.
6. One entry form per project.
7. Preview tapes and DVDs must be labeled with the Title, Runtime, Director and Language.
8. Test your project before submitting. Any projects that do not run all the way through will not be considered and submitter will NOT be notified.
